Key Working Domains
FRHD particularly focuses on the following areas of intervention while addressing the issues of children, women, and marginalized groups:
Education
FRHD, with its “equal standard of education for all children” strategy, works to bring education to all children. We strive to supply equal education to all children and get them back in school.
Health
FRHD struggles to minimize the barriers to healthcare access for adolescent girls, women, and children. We have organized workshops and sessions to raise awareness about Health.
Child Protection
FRHD works with teachers and communities to promote constructive social norms and behaviours to help prevent abuse, neglect, exploitation, and violence against children and build a child-friendly environment in the community.
Economic Wellbeing
FRHD focuses on providing direction, support, and an enabling environment to enhance the social and economic profile of women, children, and youth.
Environment
FRHD hopes to reduce plastic usage in our country by regularly educating the masses regarding its negative effects and make Pakistan plastic-free.
Who We Are
In June 2014, a group of social activists and like-minded social development professionals came together under the vision of Ms. Nazra Jahan to discuss a plan of action for the betterment of society, which concluded in the formation of the Foundation for Research & Human Development (FRHD).
FRHD is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 with an aim to bring positive change in the lives of the underprivileged communities, particularly children and women. The foundation of FRHD is based on the Core Values of equality, equity, non-discrimination, dignity, respect, openness, transparency, and good governance. FRHD focuses on developing moralized social groups through participative and self-initiated developmental programs.
What We Do
We work for uplifting children, strengthening youth, and empowering women relating to protecting and promoting their rights in Pakistan through advocacy and raising awareness, capacity building, research, and service delivery. These tools are used to influence decision-makers, legislators, and key government stakeholders to bring about legal and policy reforms and other actions that safeguard and foster human rights. We motivate and mobilize the public to bring about changes in social attitudes and practices.
FRHD also sees itself as a watchdog in the field of Child Rights in Pakistan, acting as a voice for disadvantaged and exploited children, through lobbying, campaigning, and pressurizing the government to protect and promote Child Rights, and to end exploitation, abuse, and discrimination against children.
Capacity Building Activities
FRHD develops and strengthens the knowledge and understanding of stakeholders about the UNCRC and CEDAW at institutional and community levels, to raise awareness regarding human rights, specifically for women and children in need, so that they can advocate for and respond to these issues in their respective spheres.
